Damn doesn't bother me either.
The problem lies, I believe, in word context for me. You can say the 'f' word all you want since it really doesn't have a meaning of its own any longer, it's all in the context of the sentence. It can be a compliment, a happy word, a bad word or a sad word. However, I don't use it since it has such a stigma attached to it.
Anyway, sorry you got kicked for 'damn', as you can see, I've had the same problem.

Your entire posts offends me! So much potty mouth!
No no, in all seriousness, in response to your post and the one whom you quoted, why is there even a debate? If you aren't comfortable with seeing that stuff, use the language filter, don't stop people from being who they are!

Foul language is actually against the terms of service of the game, believe it or not. The language filter is there to help provide some relief from people who break the rules. Its inclusion in the game is not a blanket ok to swear at will.
That's kind of besides the point though since this is more about guild or ally chat. Some guilds have rules about this usually intended to shape the kind of atmosphere they want for guild/ally chat. If it's just a group of friends who get together to play GWs then this kind of stuff isn't necessary, but when you get 20-50 people each in 10 guilds, you're going to have stuff come up and not having rules that tell people how they're expected to behave you're just kind of asking for trouble. If you don't like the rules just leave or not join in the first place. No one's trying to tell anyone how to live your life, they're just saying if you want to play in our sandbox, these are the rules.
I mean try getting around the word filter on swear words here on guru and see where that gets you. Same thing really (since the in game language filter isn't exhaustive).

ZB HM 1 Monk to go.
Saw this in Doomlore last night. The group leader spammed for at least 45 minutes looking for a Monk instead of just trying with a Hero Monk. I'm surprised the whole group waited as long as they did.

Fairly certain the EULA says you can't use abusive language, not "foul language". Basically, "F***!" is fine as an exclamation, "F*** YOU!" is not. The game is rated T, and it'd be absolutely insane for them to say that no one is allowed to curse in any situation in their game. This is, in fact, precisely why the language filter is there.
Oh, also, circumventing the filter by slightly misspelling curses is also a no-no, afaik.

There's nothing stupid about this imho. Some people like me do the zaishen quests for nostalgia of the early days when groups of 8 would be wandering around Tyria. A single hero ruins that feeling for me.

45 minutes does make it stupid imo....I sure would've dropped long before that.

I checked before I posted http://www.guildwars.com/support/leg...sofconduct.php
"You may not use sexually explicit, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, hateful, or racially or ethnically offensive language."
However, you ended by talking about cursing, which is a much broader term than "foul language" (by which I meant obscene per the rule). No, they aren't saying no one is allowed to curse.
But the point I was addressing was people being allowed to "be themselves" in the context of using whatever language they want. Which usually means they want to use those "seven words you can't say on TV" so to speak, which aren't allowed by the rules.
So to me it seems logical that since the language under discussion isn't supposed to be used in the game, the only reason to have the filter is to protect people from those breaking the rules (on purpose, accidentally or through ignorance), not to give people permission to break the game rules at will.

Okay so I was in a PUG Fissure of Woe speedclear (I get the feeling alot of people are groaning already)...
Anyway everything is awesome right until main team is at chest and waiting khobay to die, and the VoS starts randomly attacking mobs of shadowshits right outside where Taeres.
Everyone is yelling at this dude to stop and gtf back inside or die and UA get him, and this is what he says "I don't understand how stupid you SC'ers are not killing all enemies and missing drops" "you are all noobs!"
Okay, punch-line; Taeres dies.

Granted his comments were not warranted, but if ya'll were finished as main team (this means tos has already been taken) then Taeres dying was irrelevant.

I actually did not know this. But really one of my biggest pet-peeves in general is people (esp in a PUG) who totally ignore teamchat or reply with some crap like "stfu i do what i want"

Thursday morning I see a "WTB Torment Gems...." I PM'd the person saying I've got some to sell him. Waited several minutes, got no reply, so I went about my merry way doing other things in-game.
Friday morning, I recieved the following PM: "Do you still have those gems for sale?"

I've had situations similar to this except with some EotN dungeon staves I get a pm like a week after I sell the item saying "are you by chance selling xxx item". I've gotten multiple pms like this I just end up putting them on ignore because I think it's some person who added me to their list and keeps bugging me about the same items.
Also to add to the thread I had someone rage at me earlier in the week when I was selling clovers 5k cheaper than them I didn't even see their wts I just perfer to sell stuff at on an even number example 60k instead of 65k was I think what I was trying to sell for or maybe it was 70k don't remember.

Ignore? Really? Whenever I am looking for something, and if I can't find anyone selling it in-game, I'll use http://argos-soft.net/GwEstimator/ to see if anyone was selling it in the past week or so. If I find someone, I'll whisper them and ask if they still have it. I've found a bunch of things I've been looking for using this.

Yes I put them on ignore because it's been multiple times with the same item and I'm almost certain it was the same person, I can't be bothered to remember their name, which I've told multiple times I no longer have the item.

I'm getting impatient with people that stand in Kamadan wanting to buy crafting materials (diamonds, shards etc) offering to pay less for them than the merch would buy them for. I even point this out to them in case they didn't know...."Hey, ya know there's a merch standing a few seconds away from you thats paying more for them, right"?
I'm sure some of them are just stupid, but most them are just wasting their day parked waiting for a sucker to come along so they can rip them off. All this for a few hundred gold instead of just paying fair value for them.
